Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) announces the list of film industry experts participating in the jury of the festival’s funding program in its 11th edition (April 6-11), which offers awards totalling more than $ 115,000 to Arab projects in the development and post-production stages.

Malmö Industry Days (MID) is announcing the names of a number of institutions, festivals, companies and support funds that have confirmed their presence in the 7th edition of MID, to be held between April 7 and 10, virtually via the Zoom app. Whereas, MID is based on the basis of joint cooperation so that the goal is to create a vital centre for integration between filmmakers in the Arab world and Scandinavian countries.

The founder and president of the festival, Muhammad Keblawi, expressed his happiness in forming committees and the list of participating parties, saying: “The list, which includes a group of the most important Arab and European film industry professionals and the most prominent entities in the two regions, is a continuation of the Malmö Festival’s ability to attract the best talents to participate in its activities, after turning the city of Malmö into a meeting point that brings together cinematic ideas, cultures and experiences. Although the MID and fund activities are held online, the presence of this number of influential names will increase the benefits that will be acquired by participants of the days”.

Fund Juries

The Malmö Fund jury includes multiple international talents and experts. The feature fiction films in development jury brought together Egyptian director Hala Khalil, Swedish producer Tobias Jansson in addition to Saudi producer Faisal Baltyuor, founder of CineWaves Films.

The documentary feature projects in development will be decided by a committee consisting of the Lebanese director Reem Saleh, the Swedish director Fredrik Gertten, and the Egyptian director of operations at Rotana, Assem Ramadan.

The short film development category jury includes Jordanian producer Nadia Eliewat, Swedish producer Johan Simonsson, and Egyptian producer Shahinaz El-Akkad.

Finally, the post-production category jury gathers five professionals: Iraqi Swiss director and producer Samir Jamal Eddin, Tunisian director and producer Nada Hafaeidh, Jordanian producer Alaa Alassad, Egyptian head of sales and distribution Meriame Deghedi, in addition to producer and CEO of The Cell Egyptian Company Sherif Fathy.
